About Blake Brewer
History
I have had a license to practice law in the State of
Ohio for more than 20 years. During that time, I have filed hundreds of Ohio bankruptcy
petitions on
behalf of consumers in Lake, Summit, Medina, Cuyahoga, Lorain and Geauga
counties. I also take on selected cases in the area of OVI (operating a motor
vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs), and other civil and
criminal matters in Ohio.
Resume
Mr. Brewer graduated from the Ohio State University (dual degree
in English and journalism) and the Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland
State University, where he was President of the Student Bar Association and
an editor of the Cleveland State Law Review. He received the American Juris
award for excellence in the study of criminal law, and has been licensed to
practice law in Ohio since 1984.
In 1998, Mr. Brewer opened the Cleveland
office of a Columbus based law firm,
Koffel & Jump, then opened his own practice in the same location in April
of 2000. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys,
the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Ohio State Bar Association
and the Cleveland & Parma bar associations. He served as the elected Mayor
of Harveysburg, Ohio, from 1992-1996, the magistrate for Waynesville, Ohio’s
mayor’s court from 1993-1996, and was formerly an assistant Montgomery
County public defender and Senior Product Analyst for LEXIS-NEXIS in Dayton,
Ohio. From 1996-1998, Mr. Brewer was associated with nationally known law firm
of Allen, Guthrie & McHugh in Charleston, West Virginia.
He has been a frequent
lecturer at continuing legal education seminars in Columbus and Cleveland on
defending DUI cases.
